Jos Buttler’s men starts their One-Day International campaign against Bangladesh on 07 October 2016. Though they are ranked high, Bangladesh cricket team who are improving match by match is expected to give tough competition during the series because they have won last six ODI series at home beating strong teams like India, South Africa and Pakistan.
Recently, Bangladesh played three-match ODI series against Afghanistan and won series 2-1 despite Afghanistan threatened them by winning second game. Hurt Bangladesh came harsh at visitors and won final ODI by massive margin of 141 runs to clinch series.
There were good performances from Bangladesh during their series win against Afghanistan including century from Tamim Iqbal and match winning spell from Taskin Ahmed taking 4 wickets. Shakib Al Hasan has always been star performer for his nation and once again he in expected to contribute.

He has been consistent performer for his team and he proved his importance once against against Afghanistan. He played three-match during the series and took 6 wickets grab fourth position in wicket-taking list with an economy of just 4.12. He also contributed with bat scoring 82 runs including a crucial knock of 48 runs in first ODI which Bangladesh won by just 7 runs.
Left-handed opener seems to be enjoying his good form since he returned to the squad in 2015. He continued his brilliance during series against Afghanistan where he scored 218 runs in 3 innings to lead run-scorer tally and he was rewarded with man of the series. Bangladesh’s leading run-scorer in all three formats, Tamim has an abundance of white-ball experience and looks to be maturing into a more consistent top-order batsman
Mahmudullah is a valuable and experienced member of Bangladesh’s side who has potential to perform with bat as well as ball. Originally an all-rounder who normally bats in the middle order, recently was promoted to No 4 which has brought the best out of his game. In 12 innings there, Mahmudullah has scored two centuries and five fifties, averaging an unbelievable 74.
In absence of bowling sensation Mustafizur Rehman, Taskin Ahmed is expected to lead the pace attack. His recent performance has been impressive, he took 7 wickets during recently concluded ODI series against Afghanistan. Afghanistan needed 13 runs of last over in first ODI but excellent over from Taskin denied Afghanistan control over the game and he conceded only 5 runs to hand Bangladesh first win of the series.
