Gautam Gambhir replaces injured KL Rahul


India lead the three-match Test series 1-0 with comprehensive victory in Kanpur where host defeated visitors by big margin of 197 runs. In first test, KL Rahul sustained injury while running between the wickets in second inning and he didn’t take further part in test. India suffered blow when he was ruled out of second test due to injury because he was in form batsman.

Gautam Gambhir, Delhi opener has been recalled as replacement. He returns to the squad after almost two years, last test he played for India was against England at The Oval in August 2014. (See Here: India vs New Zealand, 2nd Test Prediction & Probable Playing XI)

His form in recently concluded Duleep Trophy made him favorites to be picked for national side. He scored 356 runs at an average of roughly 71 in three games. Gambhir has played 56 test matches for India and scored 4046 runs.

Meanwhile, Ishant Sharma who missed first test due to chikungunya has been ruled out from second test who is still recovering. Uncapped Haryana offspinner, Jayant Yadav has been called for his replacement.
