Joe Root has been consistent member of English side with three half-century in four matches. It looks he continued form where he left off in test series because he was leading run scorer with 512 runs in 8 innings. Alex Hales who had poor performance in test series as well as in this series smashed a big hundred in historic game for England due to which they broke earlier highest ODI inning record of 443 run by Sri Lanka and posted 444 runs.
Ben Stokes (69 runs), Jonny Bairstow (61 runs) and Moeen Ali were three players from fourth ODI who contributed for England victory. England once were struggling at 72/4 in 15th over then all-rounder Ben Stokes and wicket-keeper batsman started stitching work and added together 103 runs to bail England out of any further dent. Later, Moeen Ali’s knock of 45 runs helped England reach decent total of 252 runs which looked defend-able.
While defending, England needed early breakthrough which Chris Jordon provided in fourth over when he removed Sharjeel Khan at score of 16 runs. Though skipper Azhar Ali denied his wicket but at other end wickets were falling regularly. Adil Rashid took 3 wickets while Moeen Ali and Chris Jordon grabbed two wickets each.
Pakistan’s disappointing run in the limited overs format continued in fourth One-Day International as they lost the fourth ODI to the hosts by four wickets. However, they did show some fight by giving the Three Lions a scare to take six wickets with the ball.
Their batting has been in a shambles throughout the tournament and that they got to 247 was thanks to skipper Azhar Ali who scored a measured 80 while all-rounder Imad Wasim provided the fireworks at the end with a 41-ball 57 run knock.
Pakistan have nothing to lose than playing for pride. They will look to gain something out of nothing in final One-day of the series.
