Performance in the past and ongoing series proves, Bangladesh are no more considered as minnows. England might have been favorites before ODI series started 07 October but tremendous courage and collective efforts from host have balanced the series 1-1.
England started their campaign with close win but disappointed host clawed back to win second game by 34 runs to square the three-match ODI series. Host looked competitive on the field which reflects in outcomes of this series so far. Meanwhile, England have not played to their potential, big name such as Jonny Bairstow have not been able to deliver.
Bangladesh will be eager to register one more series to their tally after claiming series against big teams like Pakistan, India and South Africa in recent past. They have performed in all departments of cricket though fielding has been little sloppy. Captain Mashrafe Mortaza has been leading the side nicely with collective contribution from all players.
Bangladesh’s star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has been key player, he doesn’t only contribute by scoring runs but also with wickets in his economical overs. Tamim Iqbal one of dangerous player who can be threatening once he gets settle have not fired yet, so we may see him back in the form on Wednesday (12 October).
Bowling is another integral part of any team and Bangladesh, in the series, have been commendable with the ball. Skipper Mashrafe Mortaza has bagged wickets consistently, maintaining good economy. Taijul Islam, the 24-year-old left-arm spinner has been included in the side as replacement of Mosharraf Hossain for last One-Day International.
On the other hand, England are on this tour without their regular skipper Eoin Morgan and one of the devastating opener Alex Hales. They are clearly being missed but Buttler and co. have to lift themselves up after tasting defeat in second game.
Rookie Ben Duckett’s 60 was a noticeable inning at top-order batting and the batsman is expected to continue scoring runs in the third ODI as well. Ben Stokes scored a hundred in the first ODI. Visitors have lacked contribution from top-order while middle order has been good.
Jake Ball has been crucial finding from this series who bagged in 5-wickets on his debut and seven wickets from two games. Adil Rashid has utilised the favourable conditions quite well and impressed everyone with his leg spin but Moeen Ali has not been able to manage a single wicket.
