Ireland now faces do or die situation in fifth and final One-Day on Tuesday (19 July) because if they lose they will lose the series to Afghanistan. After first match was ruled out due to rain, next match was clinched by visitors but host came hard to win third ODI to level the series. However, loss of fourth game have raised a lot of concern in Ireland camp which needs to be answered quickly before it is too late.

Ireland have experienced head on their side likes of Kevin O’Brien, Ed Joyce and skipper William Porterfield who need to stand tall and deliver in last match to save this series. Bowlers are doing good job but batting failed to support their bowlers.

On the other hand, Afghanistan will look to finish series on high. They have outplayed host in all departments of cricket as they clinched fourth game by good margin of 79 runs. Despite posting a modest total of 229 runs on the board, bowlers did excellent job to restrict host to 150 runs.

Afghanistan victory in fourth One-Day International ensured they can’t lose the series however it is not easy to win series against wounded Ireland so they need to be focused and determined.

Result: Ireland won by 12 runs
