Pakistan opens their ODI campaign against West Indies at Sharjah

Pakistan opens their One-Day International campaign against West Indies on Friday (30 September) after humiliated World T20 Champions 3-0 in three-match Twenty20 International series. First of three ODI match is scheduled to be played at Sharjah Cricket Association Stadium, Sharjah.

Pakistan, fresh from T20I series win will look to continue their dominance over visitors when they lock horns on Friday but this time Azhar Ali has responsibility on his shoulder to carry on the teams momentum. Yashir Shah and Asad Shafiq returns to the squad for ODI series who were not part of squad in recently concluded T20I series.

Currently ranked ninth in the ICC ODI rankings, the Men in Green know that a loss in this series will put their chances of automatic qualification for the ICC 2019 World Cup in jeopardy. However, as the recent T20 series has shown, they have the talent to beat anybody on their day.

Imad Wasim had terrific T20I series where he was leading wicket-taker with 9 wickets in three matches. Bowlers have bowled well but only problem is their inconsistency. Mohammad Amir will lead the pace attack while Imad Wasim will have spin responsibillity.

Visitors would be keen to make comeback after humiliating loss in T20I series. Jason Holder takes captains responsibility from newly appointed Twenty20 skipper Carlos Brathwaite. West Indies have plenty of match winners but they have not played up to their potential on this tour. So they need to fire back if they fancy any chance to bounce back in ODI series.
