Credit goes to Sri Lankan bowlers who kept host in game, especially Amila Aponso who bowled miserly spell of ten overs for 27 runs, though he took only one wicket but he was impressive of all in first game. Dilruwan Perera took three wickets while Lakshan Sandakan registered two wickets to his name.

Dinesh Chandimal and Kushal Mendis seems to be doing major part of work since test series. Again duo stood firm against Aussies attack, Chandimal played rock-solid inning of unbeaten 80 runs while Kushal Mendis scored 67 runs. Kusal Perera was out without scoring while Tillakaratne Dilshan (22 runs) tried to stay at the crease but Henriques ended his campaign.

Visitors have got off to positive start in One-Day International series but they need to carryon achieved momentum. They will look to cure wounds they suffered in test series by claiming ODI series. David Warner is yet to deliver a big innings again he failed to score in first ODI but rest of the batsman including Aaron Finch (56 runs), Steven Smith (58 runs) played fantastic inning on a difficult pitch.

James Faulkner was the man who disturbed Islanders batting order claiming four wickets including big wickets of Kusal Mendis and Angelo Mathews. He varied his line and length, also his ability of pace-variation is very effective in shorter format of cricket. Mitchell Starc (3 wickets) has been doing for visitors since test series and he continued to do so in ODI series as well.
