India clinched historic series win on Caribbean Soil


India defeated West Indies by 237 runs in 3rd test to clinch 4 test-match series by 2-0 with one match still to go. They not only won the series but this their first time when they have won two test matches in a series in Caribbean.

India declared after batting for 45 minutes on fifth day of 3rd test stretching lead to 345 runs which West Indies needed to chase for leveling the series. Miguel Cummins picked up all four Indian wickets that fell on final day to finish with figures of 6 for 48 as India declared their second inning 217/7.

Chasing the target West Indies lost three quick wickets before lunch on fifth day was taken. Mohammad Shami, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Ishant Sharma all struck early in their opening spells to reduce West Indies to 35 for 3. Darren Bravo and Roston Chase then joined hands to repair the innings and added 18 runs to the unbeaten fourth wicket stand.

Roston Chase who denied India’s victory in second test couldn’t replicate this time and he was clean bowled by Ishant Sharma. Host batting line-up surrendered before India’s bowling attack as they kept losing wickets at quickly though Darren Bravo showed some determination but it was not enough to win or save the test match.

Mohammed Shami took three wickets while Ishant and Jadeja grabbed two wickets each. Eventually, India won by 237 runs despite a day lost due to rain and also won series 2-0 with one match still to go. Also, this is first time India has won two Tests in a series in the Caribbean.
