Barbados lock horns with Guyana Amazon Warriors in must win clash

Barbados are in do or die situation when they clash with already qualified Guyana Amazon Warriors who are at second spot in the table at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground in Florida on Saturday (July 30) [Sunday, 31 July in India]

Fixture: Barbados Tridents vs Guyana Amazon Warriors, 28th Match/ BT vs GAW
Time/Date: 1:30 AM IST (31 July)/ 08:00 PM GMT/ 04:00 PM LOCAL/ 30 July
Venue: Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground, Lauderhill, Florida

Barbados Tridents are currently placed fifth in Points Table with three wins while they have lost five games out of nine games played so far. Meanwhile, Guyana Amazon warriors have only three and won six games to earn 12 points to stay at second position.

Since Jamaica Tallawahs and Guyana Amazon Warriors have qualified for the knockouts so fight is still on between St Lucia Zouks, Trinbago Knight Riders and Barbados Trident to fill remaining two vacant position. Barbados Tridents have only one game remaining which mean if they lose they are out from the competition and rest two will automatically qualify for qualifiers but if they win, they have to depend result of other games too i.e Knight Riders to lose their last game or St Lucia Zouks to lose both their remaining matches.

Barbados comes into this match on the back of 6 wickets defeat against Guyana Amazon Warriors in their last match. They were outplayed because a modest target of 143 was not enough in crucial game which Guyana chased down with 10 balls to spare. Unbeaten half-century knock from Shoaib Malik and David Wiese 31-balls 40 helped Barbados post respectable total.

Guyana Amazon Warriors being one of qualified team will look to seal berth in top two and also spoil the party in Barbados Tridents camp. Despite losing influential skipper Martin Guptill midway through the tournament, the Warriors have managed to grind out wins.

Chris Lynn in particular has been the go-to man with the bat for the Warriors scoring 341 runs at good pace. They own their last match against Barbados Tridents by 6 wickets helped by brilliant inning from both Dwayne Smith (34-balls 50) and Nic Maddinson (41-balls 50) who together added 92 runs for first wicket.

Bowlers did fantastic job to restrict Barbados to modest total. Adam Zampa gave away only 11 runs in three over and added one wicket to his name. Rayad Emrit and Sohail Tanvir took two wickets each.
