Ryan Higgins was star bowler who bagged five wickets for 13 runs bowling 3.1 overs. James Fuller (3 wkts) helped Middlesex get rid of both openers while Steven Finn (2 wkts) removed danger man Shahid Afridi who scored just six runs.

Just one win in first five matches would have been disappointing for Essex but they fought back to win four back to back win until Gloucestershire halted winning streak. Essex with six game out of twelve they have played so far in Natwest T20 Blast 2016 are at fourth spot in South Group points ladder.

They enter this encounter after defeating Kent by 33 runs. They posted good total of 190 runs on the board courtesy Tom Westley (49-balls 74) and Ravi Bopara (35-balls 51). Daniel Lawrence and Nick Browne gave Essex good start and added together 47 runs for first wicket in fifth over.

Defending the target, bowlers did their job by restricting Kent to 157 runs. Graham Napier took three wickets while Ryan ten Doeschate and David Masters grabbed two wickets each. Daniel Lawrence was economical of all who game only five runs in one over and took important wicket of Sam Northeast who was scoring at good pace.
