TUTI Patriots reached final of inaugural edition of Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) defeating handsomely Dindigul Dragons by 38 runs. Abhinav Mukund and Dinesh Karthik scripted Patriots victory with partnership of 95 runs for third wicket which helped big total of 187 runs on the board.
Abhinav Mukund played sensational knock of 91 runs of 55 balls which included 10 fours and one sixes. Dinesh Karthik played quick-fire inning of 48 runs of 31 balls which provided boost to scoring rate.
At one stage, Patriots were aiming 200 figure but they lost four wickets in last 9 balls which halted the proceedings and eventually they could manage 187 runs. Sunny Kumar Singh claimed three wickets in 19th over including wicket of Abhinav Mukund.
In response to big total, Jagadeesan carried his rich form but hardly got any support from the other end. Washington Sundar bowling the last over before the powerplay almost handicapped the innings by picking up a triple wicket maiden.
However, Ashwin Venkataraman (26-balls 40) stayed in the middle as hope but it was disappointing at other end which could see only batsman throwing away their wicket. Washington Sundar maiden over which included three wickets broke batting order apart which forced batsman not only to stay at the crease but also score at fast pace.
Pressure of big total was always going to ask to play every ball for run which resulted in collapse of middle order and Dindigul Dragons lost their way. They surrendered with a reply of 149/8 handing a grand entry to the TUTI unit into the finals.
